The RoboMaster Robotics Competition is an annual international collegiate robotics competition founded and hosted by the drone tech giant Da-Jiang Innovations (DJI) and held in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. It has attracted the interest of hundreds of universities and tech companies, and tens of thousands of robotics enthusiasts around the world. The competition features two opposing teams, consisting of several diverse robotic platforms that engaged in battles similar to tactical first-person shooter video games. The competition is held in this innovative fashion in order to bring STEM into popular main stream media. However, at it’s core the competition focuses on the ability to apply and practice comprehensive knowledge in science and engineering disciplines, such as mechatronics design, machine vision, control theory and more in to reliable and proven platform. Participating teams are required to independently design and build and program robots from the ground up. While other competitions tend to focus on achieving tasks, RoboMaster pits teams to innovate beyond proven techniques in order to gain a competitive edge akin to the modern consumer tech market.

RoboMaster AI Challenge is a spin-off challenge where teams are tasked to create two fully autonomous versions of their robots to work in tandem against an opposing team. Matches are in a much smaller scale but focus heavily on logic and SLAM.
